The word hero means someone who has made great achievements in life and thus admired by people. It is a word that is used so much in the modern times. When one thinks of the word hero, what comes to my mind is someone who has gone out of his her ways to accomplish certain missions, tasks or challenges in life successfully. Some of the general admirable qualities that one can possess are bravery, courageousness, trustworthiness and reliability. A hero is not necessarily someone you know personally. It could be a celebrity, freedom fighter, footballer or even an athlete. These individuals possess special attributes that many people admire. When children are asked what they want to be when they grow up they could say they want to be a great athlete and possibly name one of the great athletes in history today. In such a situation, the athlete is a hero and also a role model because you look upon him to shape up your passion and talent.
If we look back in history, heroes are people who have great achievements. There are several factors that lead to one being heroic. In most cases, it is the way someone behaves or acts in certain circumstances. In situations like war, they are the people who have gone out of their way despite major obstacles and made great sacrifices for their country. Nelson Mandela is a great example of an individual who fought tirelessly for freedom and democracy in his country. Nelson Mandela is now a hero and role model to many upcoming leaders and those already in leadership positions.
Children also have superheroes that they look up to. Superheroes are known to have superficial powers like flying. Super man and batman are examples of superheroes. Superheroes are admired because they have extraordinary powers like flying, bravery and strength. Children also look up to their parents as heroes. Parents go along away to make sure their children are comfortable, secure and happy. They sacrifice their time and love for their children. Without parents, children miss parental care hence they sometimes suffer neglect, abuse and exploitation. Parent’s professions influence family member’s career decisions. It is not unusual to find children taking up their parents professions. Professions like medicine and teaching often run in the family.

The unit must display such gallantry, determination and esprit de corps in accomplishing its mission under extreme difficult and hazardous contributions as to set it apart and above other units participating in the same campaign. This past year, having been overseas helping fight for the freedom of many lives, James has worked with many men and women that could be classified as heroes; those who went above and beyond the call of duty to save the lives of others. He recommended several men in his unit for special citations due to those acts of honor. While in battle, James has encountered not only enemy fire, but also witnessed the loss of one of his men because of the enemy fire.
